Nigeria’s most decorated EPCIC company – Oilserv Group, marked the 2023 World Earth Day by planting trees in her various bases and project locations across the country. This initiative is in line with the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation. World Earth Day, celebrated every year on the 22nd of April, is a global event that brings people and organizations together to raise awareness and take action to protect the planet. This year’s theme, “Invest in our planet,” highlights the urgent need to repair the damage we have caused to the planet’s ecosystems and promote a more sustainable future.
To contribute to this important cause, Oilserv launched a tree-planting campaign, aimed at increasing the number of trees in Nigeria’s urban and rural areas. The company’s QHSE team, together with nominated members of each department, planted a variety of trees, including fruit trees, shade trees, and indigenous species. The trees were carefully selected to provide environmental benefits, such as reducing carbon dioxide levels, providing shade, and improving air quality.
According to the Oilserv Group QHSE Head, Engr Friday Osuidia, “We recognize the vital role that trees play in maintaining a healthy environment, and we are proud to contribute to the global efforts to restore our Earth. By planting trees, we are not only promoting environmental sustainability but also supporting local communities and creating a legacy for future generations.”
Oilserv’s tree planting initiative is part of the company’s wider commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The company has implemented several green initiatives in its operations, such as energy-efficient technologies, waste reduction, and recycling programs. Oilserv also supports local communities through various social programs, such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
As the world faces increasing environmental challenges, it is heartening to see organizations like Oilserv taking proactive steps toward environmental sustainability. By working together, we can create a healthier planet for ourselves and future generations.
