Innovation and entrepreneurship have set in motion the 4th industrial revolution around the world. There is no doubt that it is only an innovative and knowledge-based strategy that supports ideas generation, creativity, and entrepreneurship that can foster national growth and economic development on a sustainable basis.

In a bid to promote national development, The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in conjunction with Oilserv Group have keyed into this wave of revolution by championing innovation, entrepreneurship and technology on a triple helix model which emphasizes synergy between the academia, government and the private sector.

Chairman/CEO, Oilserv Group, Engr. Emeka Okwuosa, delivered a keynote speech on “The making of a Leading entrepreneur” at the University of Nigeria’s Maiden National Innovation Summit held on 7th June, 2019 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu, State where he shared insights from his wealth of experience on how to become a successful entrepreneur.

In his speech, he gave a detailed breakdown of the definition of an entrepreneur, the role of an entrepreneur, typical processes of building up an enterprise, encouragement of entrepreneurship, qualities of an entrepreneur, how to thrive in a challenging environment, social impact of entrepreneurship as well as his background and journey so far of the Oilserv Group. He also reiterated that a leading 21st century entrepreneur is not afraid to think outside the box and concluded by saying “To try and make the world in some way better than you found it, is to have a noble motive in life’’.

Other dignitaries in attendance include, Prof. Pat Utomi (Keynote speaker), Major. Gen. Theodore Ogugua; Representative of Chief of Army Staff amongst others.

The event had a huge impact on innovation, technology, creativity, entrepreneurship and youth development in Nigeria as students and dignitaries in attendance departed with a new perspective on becoming a successful entrepreneur.
