For us at Oilserv, the new rail line linking Warri to Itakpe couldnt have come at a better time. Yesterday at about 11.15 am , history was made when weeks and months of planning culminated in the haulage of 96 {40inch} gas project line pipes by rail. This is the equivalent of 32 trailers worth of load. Through this landmark event, the pipes will arrive Itakpe in record time of 8 hours traveling at a speed of 50km per hour. This is the first time a haul of this magnitude is taking place on a standard gauge rail line in Nigeria.
Amongst the prominent honorees was Engr. Sir Emeka Okwuosa, Chairman of Oilserv Ltd and founder of Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation.
With this feat, Oilserv’s commitment to deliver this project in good time has been given a huge boost. Kudos to the government on the completion of this project as its multiplier effect are innumerable, kudos also to the collaborative effort of wholly Nigerian companies championed by Oilserv that pulled off this feat. NCDMB and the Presidency must be proud of this collaboration.
This rail movement takes out 32 heavily loaded trailers off our roads thereby extending lifespan of the roads. It also saves tens of man-hours, it is safer and almost eliminates accidents involving vehicular and human traffic. We congratulate the Oilserv team for their meticulous plan that made this a reality. Already the pipes arrived Itakpe same day by about 10.48pm.
Nine wagons bearing 54 pipelines have been offloaded, while the remaining 7 wagons will follow suit tomorrow. The ingenuity, doggedness and technical know-how of the Oilserv team cannot be overstated. The expected delivery time of this economically significant project looks right on schedule.
