A transformative Milestone: Oilserv Limited’s Pioneering Role in Nigeria’s Gas Infrastructure Development (the ANOH-OB3-CTMS Gas Pipeline Project)

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, through its subsidiary, the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC), is spearheading the implementation of a vital export transmission gas pipeline. This pipeline will transport dry gas from the Assa North – Ohaji South (ANOH) Primary Treatment Facility (PTF) to the OB3 Custody Transfer Metering Station (CTMS) for delivery into the OB3 pipeline, covering a distance of 36”x 23.3km. The ANOH Gas development project aims to support Nigeria’s domestic gas production growth, which is crucial for powering additional industrial and power projects as part of the Federal Government’s expansion plans.

In pursuit of this ambitious project, Oilserv, Nigeria’s premier indigenous Oil and Gas Servicing company, is providing comprehensive Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation & Commissioning (EPCIC) services for the ANOH PTF – OB3 CTMS gas export pipeline project. This entails the construction of the 36” x 23.3km gas export pipeline, along with Pigging facilities (Launcher & Receiver) facilitating the transportation of natural gas from the NGC manifold at Assa to OB3 CTMS.

President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate three ground-breaking gas infrastructure projects in Nigeria, including the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project with Associated End Facilities. Consequently, top leadership from NNPC-NGIC, including the EVP, MD, and representatives from the Presidency, conducted a strategic visit yesterday Saturday, May 4th 2024, to Assa PTF site. This visit aims to ensure timely completion of the project by May 2024 and to assess readiness and preparations for the Presidential commissioning slated for May, 2024.

The ANOH field is being produced through an Upstream Facility which has a Manifold at Assa with nominal design capacity of 1200 MMscf/d based on available gas processing production reserves with a plant configuration requirement to feed two separate 2 x 300 MMscf/d capacity gas processing production trains from SPDC and AGPC for export products evacuation and subsequent additional trains required to ramp up capacity to 1200MMsfc/d. The commingled flow rate of 600 MMscf/d shall be transported from NGC Manifold at Assa to OB3 CTMS through the36” x 23.3km Gas export pipeline.

This project signifies a significant advancement in Nigeria’s gas industry, expected to collectively yield 1,400 million standard cubic feet per day. They underscore Nigeria’s commitment to maximizing gas resources, reducing flaring, and stimulating economic growth through enhanced domestic supply.

The impending mechanical completion of the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project by May 15, 2024, heralds a new era of progress and prosperity for Nigeria. Upon commissioning, this visionary project is poised to bolster the nation’s gas supply by approximately 500mmscf/d, fostering an environment conducive to investment and fostering inclusive economic growth. As affirmed by the Presidential Spokesman, these initiatives underscore the current administration’s unwavering dedication to driving sustainable development and shaping a brighter future for Nigeria’s energy landscape.

The ongoing Mechanical & Civil Works at the Assa Primary Treatment Facility & OB3 CTMS works and the 36”x 23.3km pipeline has progressed significantly, at an average completion of over 95% demonstrating Oilserv Limited’s dedication to meeting project timelines, schedules, safety, quality, and excellence.
