Leveraging Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Potential: Insights and Opportunities from the 4th Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF) 2023

The 4th Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF) organized and hosted by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) held from the 17th to 19th of May 2023 at the NCDMB Headquarters, Oxbow Lake, Yenagoa, Bayelsa.

Over the years, NOGOF has served as a platform for showcasing and highlighting the abundant opportunities in the Oil & Gas Industry, bringing key players from various sectors together to engage in strategic discourse that guides businesses in leveraging the array of opportunities that exist in the industry. The theme for the summit this year was “The Oil and Gas Industry – Catalyst and fuel for the Industrialization of Nigeria.”

The event provided a platform for major players across the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry including government agencies and industry regulators to showcase Opportunities in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry and present available in-country capacity.

This was met with innovative insights, opportunity highlights and exhibitions from industry players including Oilserv Group, Shell, NNPC Ltd, Chevron Corporation, ExxonMobil, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and Green Energy Ltd, amongst others.

Oilserv Group as a silver sponsor of the event welcomed guests to her stand at the exhibition. There was a showcase of Oilserv brand and functions, project capabilities, values, local content initiatives and a special highlight of the ongoing Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas (AKK) Pipeline Project positioned to aid the energy transition in Nigeria.

A strategic representation of Oilserv at the fair was made by the Managing Director of Frazimex; Engr. Chuka Eze, Group Business Development and Commercial Manager; Engr. Cheta Okwuosa, Nigerian Business Content Development Coordinator; Nicholas Edego and other staff members.

Accordingly, Oilserv was in full participation at this event with Engr. Emeka Okwuosa (CON) as a leading speaker on a panel session titled “Oil and Gas as Catalyst to Fuel Industrial Sector” represented by the Managing Director of Frazimex Engineering Limited- Engr. Chuka Eze.

The panel session focused on discussion strategies for the growth and prosperity of the Nigerian economy, with Oil and Gas as a major catalyst to drive industrialization in the country. Oilserv participated in this panel session alongside leaders from Shell Nigeria, Butane Energy, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) etc.

Engr. Chuka posited that there is an abundance of gas which requires investment not just for exportation purposes to generate revenue, but to fulfill the domestic gas needs in Nigeria and aid the country’s energy transition plan for a sustainable energy future and national energy security.

He further added that Oilserv is playing a significant role in driving economic growth through Oil and Gas in Nigeria with the ongoing Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project which will meet Nigeria’s gas needs and foster Industrialization in the country, while aiding the energy transition. Engr. Chuka also emphasized Oilserv’s capability to continue driving economic growth and development in Nigeria and beyond.

The NOGOF 2023 was a huge success as the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB; Engr. Simbi Wabote said: “Some of the opportunities are from the indigenous players, some by NNPC Ltd and the international oil companies. If you put them together, in the next 5 years, they would exceed $50bn that would be invested in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.” The Nigerian economy boosted by the Oil and Gas industry for the collective good of the nation is something to look forward to.
