Oilserv Limited Recognized for Exemplary National Human Capital Development by OGTAN

Oilserv Limited, a leading Indigenous energy company in Nigeria’s oil, gas, and energy sectors, has been honored by the Oil & Gas Trainers’ Association of Nigeria (OGTAN) for its outstanding contributions to National Human Capital Development (HCD). 

The company was recognized for its commitment to training and developing local talent in the industry, helping to build a skilled workforce in Nigeria. Oilserv Limited has consistently demonstrated a strong dedication to empowering Nigerian professionals and promoting sustainable growth in the energy sector.

Since its establishment, OGTAN has been instrumental in enhancing human capacity development within the oil, gas, and energy sectors. The association collaborates closely with industry stakeholders to build local human capital, adhering to a 15-point mandate from the Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) established in 2010. This mandate includes overseeing the standardization and certification of training bodies, curricula, and training delivery methods in the industry.

The prestigious award was presented at OGTAN’s 2024 Annual National HCD Awards ceremony in Lagos, themed ‘Consolidating Human Capital Development Through Domestication of Skills.’ OGTAN commended Oilserv Limited for its continuous efforts in human capital development through innovative initiatives such as the Ingenious Graduate Training Programme.

OGTAN President Mazi Onyechi said, “Oilserv’s devotion to advancing development in nanotechnology and research has set a benchmark for many HCD programmes in the industry.” He further acknowledged Oilserv as a trailblazer in human capital development, emphasising that the award aims to encourage the company to continue its outstanding work.

 

On behalf of Oilserv Limited, Engr. Cheta Okwuosa, Group General Manager, Commercial and Business Development of Oilserv Group, received the award. expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed Oilserv’s dedication to fostering development and national growth. “Our management, culture, operations, and investment decisions are all influenced by sustainability, which is ingrained in our approach. He said, “We will keep developing talents until they are ready to join the workforce and contribute to national development.

In an interview with the media onsite, Cheta also commended OGTAN’s vision to be the premier learning services group in the industry, aligning with Oilserv’s aspirations in human development. He highlighted the importance of continuous learning and skill development to ensure a skilled workforce that can drive growth and innovation in the industry. He also expressed confidence in the partnership with OGTAN and NCDMB to further strengthen local content and contribute to the overall development of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

 

The event was attended by key industry operators, regulators, academia, and media representatives. Notable awardees for 2024 included industry giants and individuals from both the private and public sectors, such as CHEVRON, FIRST E & P, PTDF ES, SEPLAT Energy, NINAS, OILSERV, SNEPCo, TOTAL ENERGIES, Prime Atlantic Group, CHARKINS Maritime, TOLMANN, CMD, ITF, SON, PTI, and Samsung. 

The recipients were recognized for their outstanding HCD contributions to the growth and sustainability of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria. The event served as a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and celebrating achievements within the industry.
